Setting Your mIRC Client to Recieve Files So now you have your mIRC client installed, running, and is connected to a server (if you can't figure out how to connect on your own you really shouldn't be trying to leech on IRC). By now you should just about have the slight gist of knowing how to use mIRC. Now heres a couple of steps to configure your client to receive files through its DCC server. Step One First access the mIRC options menu. You can do this by clicking on the little folder and hammer icon next to the connect/disconnect button. Or by clicking on the tools drop-down menu and going down to Options. Step Two
Step Three
![]() Now move down to Options under DCC. Under On completion check close window on Send and Get.
FSERV Guide (File Server) The Basics A Fserve (file server) is probably the most common type of file sharing on every mIRC network. Browsing and downloading files from them require you to know very basic mDOS commands. Below is a list of the typical types of Fserve commands you must know:
Get to know these commands very well. Because if you plan on downloading via Fserve you'll be using these quite a bit! Fserve Ads There are several differnt types of fserve ads out there, mostly depending on the client the file server is using. Heres several examples: ![]() UPP File Server Ad ![]() Sysreset File Server Ad These are probably the more common types of file server ads. Take note of the Min cps, the minimun send speed, and the number of send and queue slots. Listing the Channel for File Servers To list a channel for fserve's simply type !list into the channel window, when you get flooded by many many colors, you know that it worked. ![]() Entering a Fserve After reviewing the list of file servers, select a server you would like to enter and download from. Let's take this fsever ad for example: ![]() To enter the fserve type in the "trigger" into your mIRC status window, you could past it into the channel window but to avoid mistakes do it in the status window. The trigger for this certain fserve happens to be "/ctcp _minus !test" ![]() Simulation Once you are in the file server, the rest is up to whelter or not you are not idiotic enough to not understand basic mDOS commands. Heres a sample simulation of how things work: ![]() Upon Entering ![]() Revealing what is in the file server ![]() Entering a folder ![]() Showing contents of another folder ![]() Entering a folder ![]() Returning to the previous folder ![]() Showing contents of another folder ![]() Getting a file XDCC Help XDCC File Severs are like the newest and bestest way to leech! Well not really, but it's quite popular among fansub groups and scanlation groups. Downloading from these severs are much much more easiler than going through all that fserve stuff. Heres a sample XDCC file server:
Basically to use a XDCC Server, you'll need to know several things. 1)That the channel has a XDCC Bot 2)If you are allow to list the bot. Once you have confirmed that the channel does indeed have a bot and you are allowed to use it, first thing you'll need to do is list the bot. Let's take [D-W]BOT as a test subject. To list his packlist, you will have to type "/msg [D-W]BOT XDCC list". This will/maybe reveal the packlist like above. The command is the same for all bots just replace the name of the bot with another. Heres the basic syntax if u havent caught on yet: /msg [BOTNAME] XDCC LIST. To get a file from the bot you will have to be able to identify the pack # of the file. Refering to the sample packlist above the pack # for "[D-W] .Hack - I@Yume [English].zip" is #1. To get the file follow this simple syntax: "/ctcp [BOTNAME] XDCC send #[pack #]". In [D-W]BOT's case, to receive the file "[D-W] .Hack - I@Yume [English].zip", the command would be /ctcp [D-W]BOT XDCC SEND #1. You'll know it's all good when a nice little download window appears just like froming downloading from a Fserve. |
